Net Zero Week 2025: Our Sustainable Commitment

30 June 2025

This year, Net Zero Week takes place from 5th-11th July. It’s an online conference and awareness campaign focusing on achieving net zero emissions by 2050. This year’s event marks the fifth anniversary of the sustainable initiative, bringing together government, industry and other stakeholders.

The goal? To achieve a net zero emissions economy by 2050. Our long-standing commitment to sustainability means we aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions as a business by 2045. How? By continuing to source sustainably (FSC wood and shredded paper, recycled card and fast-growing wicker), reducing waste and becoming more energy efficient in our offices.

Our sustainability journey so far

At Gadsby, sustainability is woven (quite literally) into the fabric of our operations. Our commitment to responsible business practices encompasses our products, processes and how we can better help our customers.

From sustainable materials used in our products to certifications to show our accountability, our efforts are part of the broader mission to lead in sustainability. In terms of sustainable materials, this is a huge priority for us as a business. For example, our wicker baskets are made using fast-growing willow, bamboo is also a fast-growing material and the wood we use is FSC-certified whilst also being fast-growing.

Our dedication to sustainability is further backed by our certifications and accreditations. We were most excited to achieve B Corp certification last year but that was just the cherry on top of the accreditation cake. Planet Mark and SEDEX certification both give further proof to our customers that we take a completely holistic approach to our sustainability story.

Our net zero commitment

It’s not just the certifications we receive that help us move forward. We have set out clear and measurable goals to reduce our environmental impact, aligning with those global efforts to combat climate change.

One of our main goals is also in line with our Planet Mark certification; we’re aiming to halve our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. These emissions encompass direct operations and energy use and we’re actively implementing energy-efficient practices to meet this target.

But the ultimate goal is for us to achieve net zero emissions across all scopes, including scope 3 emissions from our supply chain, by 2045. This comprehensive approach ensures that we address emissions from all aspects of the business. Find out more here.

Our net zero commitment

It’s easy for us to explain our goals, but for full transparency to our customers, we want you to know how we’re going to be achieving them and, ultimately, how we’re going to be reaching net zero. First, product innovation. When we design and add new products to our website we’ll ensure they are made as sustainably as possible. This is the same for our bespoke products when working with clients one to one.

In line with this, it’s imperative that we continue to recognise that sustainability is a collective effort. We already work closely with our supplier, but that relationship needs to continue and grow further so we can continue to foster transparency and accountability at every stage.

By recognising we need to work with all arms of the business, we can align our goals with the rest of the country and be better for people, planet and product.
