Net Zero Week 2026: Progress Reflection & Looking Ahead

29 June 2026

Net Zero Week is a national awareness week dedicated to highlighting the importance of reducing carbon emissions and building a more sustainable future. As businesses across the UK consider the role they can play in achieving net zero, it’s also an opportunity to reflect on the progress already made and the actions still needed to create lasting change.

At Gadsby, sustainability isn’t a once-a-year conversation. It’s embedded in how we source products, work with suppliers and make decisions across our business. This Net Zero Week, we’re taking the opportunity to look back on the progress we’ve made and shared some of the areas we’re continuing to focus on as we work towards our goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2045.

What we've achieved so far

Over the past year (and longer), we’ve continued to build on our commitment to responsible business practices and reducing our environmental impact.

As a certified B Corp, we remain committed to balancing purpose and profit, ensuring that our business decisions create positive outcomes for our customers, colleagues, suppliers, helping us measure, monitor and understand our environmental impact while identifying opportunities for improvement.

We’ve continued getting our electricity from renewable suppliers and have also eliminated gas from the UK office and warehouse following a full building renovation. Alongside offsetting emissions associated with our ocean freight shipments; we’re worked to increase the use of sustainable materials across our product ranges. That includes FSC-certified wood, recycled card, bamboo, and willow.

These achievements represent meaningful progress, but we know there is still more to do.

Sustainability is a journey

There is no single solution to achieving net zero. It requires ongoing commitment, collaboration, and a willingness to continually challenge the way we operate.

While we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, sustainability isn’t a destination that can be reached overnight. It’s an ongoing process of measuring, learning, and improving. Every step forward, whether that’s reducing emissions, improving packaging or introducing more sustainable materials, contributes to the bigger picture.

As expectations evolve and new opportunities emerge, we remain focused on finding practical ways to reduce our environmental impact while continuing to deliver the products and service our customers expect.

What we're working on next

Looking ahead, we have a number of priorities that will help us continue making progress towards our net zero ambitions.

From an environmental perspective, we’re working to further reduce packaging waste and eliminate unnecessary secondary plastic packaging wherever possible. We’re also continuing to explore opportunities to reduce transport-related emissions and improve operational efficiency across the business.

Within our product development activities, we’re focused on increasing the proportion of products made from sustainable materials and carrying our further life cycle assessments to better understand the environmental impact of key material categories. This insight will help guide future product decisions and support the development of lower-impact alternatives.

We’re also committed to strengthening the people side of sustainability. Through continued investment in our colleagues, supplier partnerships, and responsible business initiatives, we aim to create positive outcomes that extend beyond environmental performance alone.

Looking forward

Net Zero Week is a valuable reminder that creating a more sustainable future requires action from businesses of every size and sector.

While we’re encouraged by the progress we’ve made, we recognise that the journey continues. Guided by out Planet, People, and Product pillars, we remain committed to making meaningful improvements across our business and supply chain. By taking practical, measurable steps today, we can help build a more sustainable future for our customers, colleagues, suppliers, and communities for years to come.
